2013 List of Board Nominations and BIO’s
I have an extensive knowledge and background with our efforts to get synthetic turf fields. I am interested in seeing this project through and believe that it is important that the person leading this effort must have a position on the Board of Directors. I have been working on our efforts to get turf fields for several years and fully understand the issues, history and problems that we have encountered along the way. I am currently serving on the Board of Harmony Sports Association which governs Harmony Sports Complex. I also serve on the Board for West Vancouver Sports Council which deals with sports fields in the Vancouver School District. I was appointed by the County in the fall of 2012 to serve a 3 year term on The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission. I am the Chairman of the Sports Fields Committee on the commission where we work on current and future sports fields in our park system. Improving the quality of athletic fields is a major concern and priority in my volunteer work.
My family has been part of the Washington Timbers organization for over 10 years. I have four children that have all played in the organization with two still active in advanced competition. My youngest child will be playing U14 next year so I will have a player in the organization through the term of service.
Allen Van Every
I am a Washington native, originally from Whidbey Island. I grew up playing premier soccer in the Seattle area, commuting two hours each way to play on my club team. My daughter plays in the club and I want to help make sure that she has an opportunity to play for a quality club in close proximity to her hometown. I also coach 2 teams in the Washington Timbers club. Player fees, club budget, and club policies are my top concerns
I currently serve as the Vice President of Corporate Finance for StanCorp Financial Group and its subsidiaries, including Standard Insurance Company. StanCorp Financial Group is public company headquartered in Portland. I also serve on the Board of Trustees for a prominent local charity, the Oregon Zoo Foundation where I am Treasurer and beginning my third term in this role. We have resided in the Vancouver/Camas area for 14 years. My wife (Gina) and I have two sons that participate in soccer and list it as their favorite sport. Carter age 12 is engaged in advanced competition and is preparing for U13 advanced competition tryouts. Gavin age 8 plays recreational soccer and is registering for U9 Academy which begins this summer. As a supportive parent, Mr. Erickson served as the Treasurer for Carter’s 2011-2012 U11 Barcelona team and his wife Gina served as the manager in consecutive seasons for both the U11 and U12 Barcelona teams.
I have been involved with soccer since he was a child, age 7. I played Varsity soccer at Crescent Valley High School for two years, earning 1st team All League honors his senior year. Heath earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Willamette University and also a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California. Upon having children, Heath coached his two boys, Dominic (age 13) and Spencer (age 10), in the Vancouver Parks and Rec program, from ages 3 to 9. Dominic has played with WSA from U11 through U14 and Spencer has played U10 and U11, also with WSA. Heath’s wife Jennifer, has been involved with WSA, being a team Manager for the WSA Blazers for the last 2 years. Heath’s daughter, Delaney (age 8), has played some rec soccer but prefers gymnastics and ballet!

My name is Jennifer Oetter, I am an attorney working in Portland and mom living in Vancouver. I have two children who both play with Washington Timbers. I have been on the Board for the past two years serving as secretary. This is an exciting time for the Washington Timbers as we grow and evolve; there is tremendous opportunity to create a club that provides opportunity for youth at every level of skill and commitment to grow through sport. I’m excited to have been a part of it thus far and looking forward to a great future.
